During my trip to the keys I started off in Old Town Key West on the quiet end of Duval Street. I wanted to be right smack in the middle and see what this place was all about! I stayed at the
Southernmost Beach Resort
which is a drop dead gorgeous piece of paradise & per the name it is the southernmost hotel in the country!
Duval Street in Key West has a reputation for serving drinks to white girl wasted bachelorette parties. In my twenties- dream come true. In my thirties- worst nightmare. I can understand why the hotel’s address could deter you from booking. But truly this hotel is in the perfect location. You can grab your best instagram shot of you with the Southernmost Point sign before the crowds come because it’s right down the street! You’re also in the prime proximity to the best food on the island. Right across the street was a super cute cuban restaurant called Ana’s Cuban Cafe. The food was fantastic. It’s a walk up, order, & grab a table outside kind of place. So come in your bikini & flip flops and grab the “Authentic Cuban” for lunch.
The Southernmost Beach Resort is also a 1/2 mile from the best restaurant on the island, Blue Heaven. This place is famous for having the “best key lime pie in the world” but I have to say the fish impressed me the most. I swear I had the best meal of my life here. Get the yellowtail snapper and I dare you to tell me it’s not the most delicious fish of your LIFE.
This resort has a large variety of rooms in all price ranges & could be great for couples, small families, or big groups! It has an adult only pool, sun lounge pier, kid friendly pool, & the suite we stayed in would be
perfect for couples with a taste for luxury.
Our room was The Ocean Front Balcony King and will cost you during the high season around $850/night. The low season // May-July // comes with less tourist but higher temperatures (90F-95F degrees) During the summer this room would cost you around $600/night. If you really like a bargain you can risk it during hurricane season and get a steal for $300/night but I never recommend booking anywhere in the southeast US or Caribbean during late August- early October. There are room options without an ocean view that are much more affordable as well!
